Kumasi Tafo violence not religious conflict – Rev. Osei-Bonsu

22481719A member of the National Peace Council is urging the public not to misconstrue the incident at Kumasi Old Tafo, between some Muslim youth and traditional authorities for a religious conflict between Christians and Muslims.

Most Rev. Joseph Osei-Bonsu says even though the actions must be condemned in all terms, it is purely a land issue and not a religious conflict.

One person has been confirmed dead by the police while others have been injured and are currently receiving treatments at the hospital.

Speaking on the issue on Onua FM’s Yensempa hosted by Kwame Karikari Thursday, Rev Osei-Bonsu explained that “It is not good for such a thing to happen because it will not bring peace”.

He said, “they should sit down and talk about it than to fight which has led to loss of life”.

The Catholic Bishop Conference urged the youth to desist from such acts, especially as the country heads towards the general elections.
