473546802_701521Gifty Twum-Ampofo, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the area, Victor Smith, had offered two of the NPP constituency executives an amount of GH¢1,000 each to resign and join his campaign team.

Speaking at her campaign launch at Akyem Osiem in the constituency, Mrs Twum-Ampofo, who is the NPP parliamentary candidate for Election 2016, disclosed at the mammoth rally that Victor Smith had said he would buy all the NPP executives so that he could snatch the seat from the NPP; and truly he had started doing that.

The Abuakwa North MP said the NDC candidate has no vision for the constituents but is only bent on buying people’s conscience with little money so that they could vote for him.

Mrs Twum-Ampofo therefore, entreated every electorate in the constituency to desist from taking money from Mr Victor Smith and vote against him.

Madam Doris Akosua Sarpomaah, former Abuakwa North Constituency Treasurer of the NPP and one other member resigned last month to campaign for the NDC.

The former constituency executive cited the death of the late MP, J.B. Danquah-Adu, as the reason for her decision, adding that the legislator’s demise had affected her emotionally to the extent that she could no longer hold on to her leadership roles.

Mrs. Twum-Ampofo noted that the NDC candidate has no message and had resorted to offering money to people to buy their conscience. She entreated the constituents to reject any offer from the NDC and vote massively for the NPP and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to win the December polls and transform the country.

Mr Smith is alleged to have bribed the former NDC candidate, Anthony Gyimah, which forced the candidate to step down with barely four months to the elections.

Dr. Gyimah submitted a letter regarding his resignation to the regional office of the party and assigned personal reasons for his decision.
