63438034“Dr Bawumia has no difficulty shredding his own image in order to tell what he knows is untruth for political advantage. I don’t know where Dr Bawumia gets his inspiration to peddle such untruth; to what end?…What he (Bawumia) did at the National Theatre was simply stale repetition of past falsehood; it won’t change anything,” says Deputy Minister of Communication.

Felix Ofosu Kwakye claims the vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), during his lecture on Thursday lied in every claim he made.

Some of the lies perpetrated by Dr Bawumia according to the Deputy Minister were that:

-NPP were better managers of the economy

-The NPP has ruled the economy better than the NDC

-We (NDC) have borrowed 39 billion dollars in eight years

-we (NDC) have spent 7billion dollars on infrastructure

-they established 36 senior high schools

Felix Ofosu Kwakye who was contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold Saturday, indicated that economic analysis is not a visual discussion or opinion but about what exists.

He said “the claim that the NPP are better managers of the economy is blatantly untrue…why does Dr Bawumia focus on only the 2008 growth rate; is that the only year that the NPP was in power? It is simply to mislead the uninitiated; those who don’t understand what he is talking about. Inflation is 16.4 percent; it is lower than the 18.1 percent that we inherited. In all the 8 years that the NPP were in power, they got a single inflation just once; one month. If you look at other indicators like the human development indicators, school enrolment, you will find that the NDC is way above the NPP. So the claim that the NPP are better managers of the economy is not supported by the facts…

How Dr Bawumia can look the people of Ghana in the face and peddle such blatant lie; he simply has no concern for his image and credibility….Dr Bawumia has no difficulty shredding his own image in order to tell what he knows is untruth for political advantage. He simply was misleading the public. It is not possible for us to have borrowed 39 billion dollars. Intellectual dishonesty…I don’t know where Dr Bawumia gets his inspiration to peddle such untruth; to what end” he queried.

According to Felix Kwakye, “the New Patriotic Party has absolutely no respect for the electorate…when it comes to using falsehood. It was a propaganda event staged by the NPP to mislead the public into believing that somehow they have a better economic record…he only rehashed untruths; the same lies that he and his party have been telling over the years were repacked and told in another way sometimes in the same way in a bid to undermine confidence in government and project the NPP in a light that they do not truly belong. What he (Bawumia) did at the national theatre was simply stale repetition of past falsehood; it won’t change anything”.
