Prayerthon 2013 Contributes To Ghana’s Quest For Peace

thumb (4)This year’s Prayerthon 2013, organized by MultiTV in collaboration with the Graphic Communications Group Limited, kicked off with a two-day live studio broadcast on The Jesus Channel on August 28th and 29th with some of the nation’s seasoned Christian religious leaders in a two-hour prayer and worship program ahead of the Supreme Court verdict over the 2012 Presidential election petition. The programs, working with the theme ‘Peace and Prosperity in our Land’, climaxed with a 12-hour prayer marathon from 8pm on August 30th to 8am on August 31st at the Accra Technical Training Centre and was also broadcast Live on The Jesus Channel.

Day one of the Live studio program received Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Markwei and Prophet Diallo as Guest Intercessors. Song ministrations were initiated by gospel singers Bernard Amankwah and Nhyira, whose euphonic voice moved many viewers. The choir, Destiny Project, led viewers into worship throughout the show. Some prayer topics for the night included acceptance of the verdict, peace in Ghana, stability and national unity as well as prayers for the various authorities in the nation.

By day two, more viewers were getting into the spirit of prayer. Calls came in from the Northern Region and other parts of the country, everyone stayed up from 11pm-1am to worship and pray for the nation ahead of the Supreme Court verdict. Interceding Live in the studio, on behalf of the nation were Rev. Abu Bako, Rev. Afotey Adai and Rev. Dr. Fred Doegbe, on a night packed with intense prayers for the Lord to control in the aftermath of the verdict.

On day three, after the verdict had been announced and the nation was still processing the information, the program moved to the Accra Technical Training Centre for a 12-hour prayer marathon moderated by Reverends Ato Acquah, Michael and Ransford Abossey, Pastor Ebo Kwaitoo and Rev. Cephas Haywood Amartey. The Mega Event line-up included prayers, praise and worship as well as music ministrations from anointed Gospel Artistes including O.J, Bernard Amankwah, Nhyira, amongst others. Leading the Prayer Intercessions were; Rev. Agbozo, Rev. Franklin Gyan, Rev. Michael Asenso, Rev. Manasseh, Rev. Paul Johnson Seadey, Fr. Raymond Osei Tutu, Rev. Dr. Robert Ampiah Kwofie, amongst others.

Prayerthon 2013 was organized under the auspices of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, the Christian Council of Ghana and Catholic Secretariat. According to the organizers, the next Prayerthon Event will take Ghana by storm and will provoke God to prosper the nation and its people further to the next level.
