thumb (3)The Senior Associate Minister and Resident Bishop of Jubilee International Church, Bishop Doris Akumiah, has been awarded a Doctorate in Biblical Studies, for her dedication to the service of God.

It was conferred on her by the Changing Ways Bible College and Seminary (CWBCS), an extension of the New Life Bible College and Seminary, USA.

Rev. Doris Akumiah received the award at a special convocation held in Accra at the weekend. It was jointly organised by the CWBCS and the Jubilee International Church.

In her acceptance speech, she pledged to help prop up Christian women to assume greater responsibilities both locally and internationally, through preaching and disseminating the word of God.

She said Christians needed to renew their faith in God, adding that her personal experience had convinced her that no one could receive any gift from God without first having faith in Him.

Speaking on the theme: “The Role of the Church in Nation Building,” the President of CWBCS, Dr Fredrick Adjei, noted that Pentecostal and charismatic churches had contributed greatly to the socio-economic development of the country.

He also said they had contributed to education, provision of social amenities and healthcare to the less privileged, and  created job opportunities.

Dr Adjei stressed the need for ministers of the gospel and church leaders to acquire knowledge because, “When the church lacks it, the church begins to perish and loses its values and purpose on earth,” he said.

According to him, church leaders could reach out better to the youth in particular, in this post-modern world if they had theological education.

Dr Adjei, therefore, called on the church to bring the fresh voice of God to what he called the ‘dying world’ and give the nation direction in accordance with the divine purpose of God.
