story (2)Voting in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in the Ashanti Region’s Manhyia North constituency is underway.

The NPP in the constituency elected its executives a week ago, paving the way for the primary to elect its parliamentary candidate.

Previous attempts to elect both constituency executives and a parliamentary candidate were stalled because of internal wrangling.

Some parliamentary aspirants were accusing the Manhyia North NPP executives of intentionally bloating the register.

There are three aspirants vying for the slot; the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency; Collins Owusu Amankwah, Richard Osei Bamfo and Kwesi Konadu.

Citi FM‘s Lauretta Timah reported that, security is unusually tight at the polling grounds as delegates are being searched thoroughly before they are given the ballot paper to cast their votes.

Delegates are also being prevented from carrying any electronic gadgets to the voting booths.
