Today is International Dance Day and to join in the celebration, Creative Arts in Motion will host Azonto Dance Concert tonight at Mantse Agboona, James Town, Accra.

Some of the over 50 dance groups drawn from all the regions of Ghana who will thrill patrons at the 6pm concert are Heroz, NWA, The Gentlemen, Humble Stars, Footprint, Kyses, DFC, Zigi, Webbie, BBOYS, Breaking Boys, I Candy among others.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic last Tuesday, Robert Klah of Creative Arts in Motion, organisers of the concert, said the show will also see performances from Article Wan and Luther.

“The turn-up for last year’s event hosted by Reggie Rockstone was awesome so I am asking Ghanaians to come out in their numbers for the second edition,” he said.

Robert explained that Azonto is an original dance from Ghana hence the need to project it with an event such as the Azonto Dance Competition.

“It is also being held in James Town because the dance is reported to have originated from there”, he added.

Asked what was at stake for winners on the day, Klah said: “The event is not actually a competition but a just platform for different dance groups to exhibit their dance skills especially Azonto”.
